Coco’s Café emerged in 1997 as Mount Pleasant’s first Classic French Bistro, when restaurateurs Alain Saley and
Fancios Rivalain partnered to introduce Charleston residents to the French Country side. The partners aimed to
develop a neighborhood restaurant which focused on food. The experience was true to the owners roots offering
a superior cuisine at a great value. The restaurant flourished for nearly a decade, becoming an area fixture
and long-time favorite for locals.
In 2006, it was an easy decision for current owner, Stephen Ollard, to purchase Coco’s Café.
He explained, “The restaurant was a neighborhood gem, I didn’t want the Coco’s vision to go to waste.”
Ollard wanted to keep the authentic French experience, but his goal was to bring Coco’s to another level.
He aimed to increase Coco’s attention on customer service, maintain consistency, and focus on taste. He
began implementing the standards of his past, honing the skills of his staff and selecting only the highest
quality meats and produce.
Coco's Café has been revived into an elegant and very European fine dining respite that offers great value.
